Bulimba Barracks Development Application

By Cr Kara Cook

Many locals attended the recent Bulimba Barracks Open Day. Following the Open Day, a Development Application for the Barracks site has now been lodged with Council. The application has been ‘properly made’ under the Planning Act 2016 on 26 March 2021.

A detailed assessment by officers from Council’s Development Services has now commenced. Please note public submissions can be made any time, but if you would like your submission to have formal appeal rights then you need to wait until the public notification period commences which will be for 30 business days. Kara will advise when this occurs.

However, given the volume and detail contained in the development documents lodged to date, if residents have questions about the proposal you can attend a “talk to a planner” session at the Carindale Regional Library which is planned for Thursday 6 May and 7 June between 4-7pm.

Sessions are by appointment and you can book via Council’s Customer Call Centre on 3403 8888 or via Council’s website.

Please note that residents have already raised some concerns with the plans lodged being inconsistent with the community developed masterplan.

If you have specific concerns you can write to Kara at [email protected]. You can also track the progress of the development application or make a submission online by visiting Council’s website at www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/development and search reference number A005661878.
