Terri Butler MP has wished Southsiders with Irish heritage, and those who just wished they had Irish heritage, a happy St Patrick's Day.

"My Irish heritage is six generations back but that won't stop me from celebrating today," Terri Butler said.

"I was honoured to speak at the Queensland Irish Association's St Patrick's Day Eve dinner on behalf of the federal Opposition again this year.

"I congratulate the QIA for their work in continuing to ensure there is a St Patrick's Day parade and ongoing celebrations for those with Irish heritage each year.

"I also express my support to local traders who are hosting Irish-themed events to acknowledge the day. I encourage locals to get along to South Bank for a green beer or burger," she said.
