“As President of Beit Or v'Shalom synagogue, I have known and worked with Mrs Georgie Boyle for over 10 years. Georgie has played an integral role in the Progressive Jewish community of Brisbane for well over 30 years. Our synagogue, located at Carina, runs services every Saturday morning, a Sunday school every fortnight, functions to celebrate and commemorate the Jewish festivals and social functions to keep our community together. For many years, Georgie has run our Guild, responsible for the catering of all events at our synagogue. From shopping, to cooking, serving and cleaning, Georgie is involved in all aspects of our events. Even now, at almost 80 years of age, Georgie still attends our services on most weeks, arriving early before anyone else, in order to prepare the refreshments to be served at the conclusion of our services. Georgie is a very warm and welcoming person, adored by all members of our community.”
