“Moorhen Flats Bushcare Group look after a revegetation site in Woolloongabba, removing weeds and planting local native species to create a rare patch of bushland in this inner suburb. Some members of the group have been active for decades; others more recent. The group has worked tirelessly, and has coped with some significant obstacles such as rubbish, syringes etc left in the bush and contaminated land investigations. The local environment is all the better for their work, as Woolloongabba locals are able to experience local native flora and fauna on what was once industrial land.”
