Last night I had the privilege of speaking on the panel at a celebratory event held jointly in Brisbane (at the Red Cross) and Vienna (at the ICAN hub at the meeting), hosted by WILPF and ICAN. It was particularly special to see Aunty Deb Sandy again. She and I were both speakers at the 2017 rally in support of the treaty. Those of us in Brisbane and online had the great benefit of a live cross from Vienna, including Australia’s representative, Labor MP Susan Templeman MP, plus Jemila from ICAN, Ray Acheson from Critical Will, and Rico Robertson from Peace Boat. It was great to hear from Prof Ian Lowe, Annette Brownlie and Cameron Leckie, with whom I was on the panel, as well as hosts Valerie (WILPF) and Marianne (ICAN). It was also a great pleasure to get another look at ICAN's Nobel Peace Prize medal, affectionately known as "Alfie". Thanks everyone for a terrific event. If you want to watch the event, it is available on YouTube.
